When working in the world of digital marketing, you’ll very quickly realise there are loads of different stats to keep track of. It can become quite a time-consuming process tracking all of your data to see how each website is performing day to day. That is where a tool like AccuRanker can come in. This is a cloud-based platform that can keep track of your websites rankings. Not only this, it lets you see how you perform alongside your competitors and you can even track their rankings as well which gives you insight into their performance.
This tool also features an automated reporting tool giving you the freedom to create your reports once and then get on with the rest of the workload you have. We all know that automated reporting is key if you want an easy agency life as pulling your reports manually, copying and pasting bits from a number of tools is very time consuming. Most of you should report on rankings and traffic anyway and Accuranker can do that for you, after the initial set up and configuration it does the rest for you.
On top of the automation part, what is key is that its an accurate tool and it does pull though a lot of your local rankings too which is perfect.
Before I go any further into the tool itself, let’s talk about what costs are involved in using it.
AccuRanker offers you lots of different pricing plans. First of all, each of these plans come with a 14 day free trial so you have quite a bit of time to know if this tool is for you.
Now when it comes to the price differences, you have quite a lot to choose from. The main difference to each is a number of keywords you can track, the competitors you can analyse and a number of users have in the tool. The agency and enterprise sections also allow for API integration if that’s something you require.
The lower end of the spectrum will cost you a total of $44.95pm which is a great starting off point for any freelancers out there and the agency prices start you off at $249.95pm.
The option is also available to purchase the tool annually which comes at a discounted price.
Adding a Domain
So now you’ve purchased the tool or using the trial its time to start using it. First things first, adding a domain. Now before you add a domain you first need to create what is called an organisation.
AccuRanker have what are called organisations and groups. These are used to manage access the users have which is important if you are running multiple domains in the tool.
Adding an organisation is simple, all you need to do is enter the company name, the email address that is used to send out the reports to your clients and you have the option to upload a logo. Organisations work in a tiered system meaning you can have one main company with other organisations belonging to it.
Now you’ve added this its time to add a group. This again is similar to the organisations, you just create a name for your group and assign it to an organisation.
The last step is to now add your domain name.
The process here is pretty straightforward. Enter the domain you want to begin tracking along with the search engine that you wish for AccuRanker to crawl along with the group that the domain name should belong in. You can also enter the name of your Google business page so that AccuRanker can find you for all of the local results as well.
Next up is adding your keywords.
On the page, you’ll be presented with two boxes. The one on the left-hand side is where you can enter your own keywords and the one on the right will begin making suggestions based on those. You can enter as many keywords as your subscription allows with a little indicator at the bottom letting you know the number you are at. I would suggest adding only a couple at a time as there are a few filter options below that allows for some good organisation of your keywords.
Underneath this is the option to target specific locations. This is helpful if you have a client only targeting certain areas and cities rather than entire regions.
You can also choose between using google, bing or both as your search engines. (One thing to note is that bing can only target specific locations within the US)
Next, you can decide if AccuRanker is going to use desktop search, mobile or both. You can filter the results even further by choosing to ignore local results, not only this but you can create tags for these keywords as well. This means you can keep these keywords separate from any added in the future and it makes finding keywords easy to find once the list becomes extensive.
Another nice little feature is keyword goals. AccuRanker will give you a notification when your keywords have reached a certain rank.
In this example, I choose to enter the keyword “seo training glasgow”. The screenshot above shows a nice table display for each of the keywords. Here are the stats you can see for each keyword:
- The position my website appears on both google and bing.
- The device and search engine used
- Position change
- Page that ranks for keyword
- Total monthly searches based on search engine
- Last scan
AccuRanker can filter its results based on any of these stats which is very useful to search and organise once you have loads of keywords stored on here.
Now adding keywords manually can be very time-consuming, especially if your website ranks for thousands of keywords. This is what makes AccuRankers importing feature a real bonus. You can import your keywords directly from Google search console and other third-party services. (You will need to contact AccuRanker about importing from third-party tools)
You can also connect your google analytics account to AccuRanker. This is pretty useful for reporting as well as these stats can be pulled into your report.
AccuRanker allows you to add a few of your competitors to the tool, so you can see how you are performing alongside them for each of your keywords.
All you do is enter their domain name and it will check your competitor’s results for all of the keywords you have already placed in the tool. You can then get a good side by side comparison for each that can be exported in both CSV and PDF format.
Automated reporting is what this tool does best. Like I said at the beginning of this post, client reporting is a lot of work and AccuRanker is here to make your job a whole lot easier.
Creating a scheduled report is a quick and easy process and once you’ve done it, you never need to come back here unless you want to tweak what the report contains.
So let’s go through the process of creating a report. On the left is where you edit your report and there is a preview of how it looks shown on the right.
Domain – Select the domain that the report is based on. You can also select a group if you want a report on multiple domains.
Report Type – You can choose between having your report in PDF, CSV or Excel format.
Language – The language the report is displayed in.
Template – Here is where you select your report template or in other words what the report contains. AccuRanker has a few default templates to choose from such as a keyword only report to its standard report format. If you click on the “Manage report templates” link, you’ll be taken to the template builder
This section is great for creating custom reports. As we all know every client report is a bit different. AccuRanker gives you complete flexibility in your reporting meaning you can tailor each one of your reports to your client’s needs.
The template builder is very easy to use. Each of the options on the left can be added to your report by clicking on the little arrow. The colour of the report can also be changed to help it fit in with either your brand or the clients.
Once you save your template, it can be selected back at the original reporting section.
Schedule – The report can be sent out on a daily, weekly or monthly basis
Email report to – This is the email address of the client. Checking the customise box lets you edit the email subject and body. Again this is great for tailoring the report for the client.
Filters – There are a number of filters that you can use for the report as well.
This is where using tags on your keywords earlier comes in handy as you can pick out certain groups of keywords you want reports on, locations, above or below a certain rank etc.
Once you’re all set, hit the save button and your report is ready to go out!
AccuRanker has created what they call “Google Grump”. This is a rating system based on how googles algorithm. How it basically works is the grumpier the mood, the higher the fluctuations are in the rankings.
You can select the search engines location along with the device type to get the rating. You’ll then be shown a graph like the one above showing the rating for each day.
