Where do I begin? I love Facebook ads for numerous reasons… The main one being its simplicity and ease-of-use to reach whoever you want it to. You may think it’s too good to be true, but it isn’t. Facebook is undeniably the most targeted form of advertising that can change the way you advertise on social media forever. Sounds cliché, but it really can benefit you in a multitude of ways.
You Choose Who You Target Ads To
Imagine targeting your ads at exactly who you want to see them, just picture it. Well, Facebook ads allow you to do just this (and more). If you want to target your ads at someone of a specific age, location or someone with particular interests or occupation, Facebook lets you do that.
So you probably already knew that, and to be honest, it’s childsplay. The custom audiences is where it’s at.
As well as you being able to target the people you want to, Facebook cleverly recognises patterns and algorithms that allows you get your adverts in front of the right people, (thanks, Facebook!)

Finding people similar to your customers is obviously a great place to start
With Facebook ads, you can create Lookalike audiences based on your current customers, where Facebook looks for the similarities of your customers, finding all the connections between them discovering why they are similar and utilising all the profile data they have.
All you have to do is import a spreadsheet including email address and phone numbers of existing customers, and Facebook will do the rest. It’s important to point out that this works better the more customer details you have, we see the best results with clients that have 1,000 plus customers.
It’s pretty impressive right? But that’s only half the job. These days, the message within your ads determine how successful you are going to be, so we recommend spending some time on that. If you’re struggling for inspiration, we recommend starting with ‘why’, you can introduce who you are later. But more often than not, most people aren’t interested in who you are, it’s a common mistake that many advertisers use, which contributes to their downfall.
People are interested in why you do what you do, because then they have the opportunity to relate to you as it shows you share their values, and as a result, they are more likely to do business with you.

Using Videos To Filter Your Audience
If you weren’t impressed by Facebook Lookalike Audiences, we are pretty sure this will do the trick.
With Facebook ads, you can create custom audiences based on the percentage of time someone has spent watching your video, so you know that whoever has watched it is highly likely to be interested in your products and services. Other advantages of this are that you can create a video on a topic and create an ad to follow it up that’s more sale driven.
The thing is on Facebook, is that people aren’t necessarily looking for what you do. If all you do in your first video is sell, sell, sell, people are going to go in the opposite direction. However, if you provide some value back in your first video, it’s a lot more likely to be successful.
Again, we want to emphasize the importance of having a big enough audience, the higher the number the better. And we can’t stress the importance of getting the message right first, this is the most important part of any advert.
An Audience Similar To Your Fresh Leads
Facebook allows you to create an audience based on who has visited a certain page of your website. For example, if people have visited the ‘thank you’ page after a quote or enquiring about a product or service, they will arrive on the thank you page. Facebook ads allow you to create a lookalike audience of anyone that’s been on that page, finding similar people to your leads.
As long as you’re generating leads regularly this will feedback data to Facebook about the types of people that are engaging with you and you’ll be well on your way to reaching the people who are most like your current leads.
The last but not least reason why I love Facebook ads is that it learns how to get better results for you. The more leads you receive, the better results you get. The advantage here is that the longer you run ads for, the better and more clever it will become. It will learn things like when, where and whom to put your ads in front of within your chosen audience to get you higher quality leads.
Thankfully, Facebook has more data than us and it will auto-analyse it to look for patterns and identify an even better audience. This has cost and time-saving benefits, so you have more budget to go on placing ads in front of the right people. Say, if you had 50 leads come through, it will automatically analyse why 50 converted and the other ones didn’t, so it will start doing more of what works.
However, you choose to utilise Facebook ads, remember that with any good thing, it takes time and you’re not going to see results instantly. The longer you leave it to its own devices to identify patterns and target the right people, the better results you could see. If you don’t have the patience, Facebook ads might not be for you.
